Panchaamrutham

Introduction

‘Pancha’ means five and ‘Amrutham' means nectar. Panchaamrutham is a prasad which is made easily and quickly using five simple ingredients. This prasad builds immunity, gives physical and mental strength. It improves brain functions enormously. It is a power pack of energy. This prasad is made for Lord Muruga in Pazhani. In early days, devotees used to climb the Pazhani hills at the time of Sunrise. This prasad taken after the tedious climbing provides instant energy.

Ingredients

  1. Ripe Banana – 2 (Preferably Poovam).
  2. Honey – 1 tbsp.
  3. Jaggery powdered – 2 tbsps.
  4. Cardamom powder – ½ tsp.
  5. Ghee – 1 tsp.

Procedure

  1. Wash the bananas and add all the ingredients.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Place a Tulsi leaf and serve the God.
  4. Cashew nuts, chopped dates, and raisins can also be added for texture.

Conclusion

The icon of Lord Dandayudha Paani at Pazhani was made and installed by Bogar. He had used nine important items and they were known as ‘Navapaashanam' collectively. Lord Dandayudha Paani was always given a Panchaamrutham bath. This holy medical Navapaashanam would be transferred to the Panchaamrutham. Consuming the holy Panchaamrutham has been good for the body and soul. Therefore, Panchaamrutham has become an important offering in all the temples connected not only with Lord Muruga but with other deities also.
