The Paramacharya of Kanchi - His Holiness Chandrashekharendra Saraswathi was known for his deep knowledge of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The Great Shripad Kulkarni was instigated by Paramacharya long ago. This resulted in the formation of Shri Bhagwan Vedvyas Itihas Sansodhan Mandir which is known as BHISHMA in the year 1976.

"Bhishma seeks to present an authentic history of India in its proper perspective. We are made to believe that the country was invaded by Aryans, Huns, Shakas, Muslims, and Europeans, centuries after centuries. However, the rule of Muslims and European Imperialists lasted just a few centuries. Our country was ruled by great Hindu rulers from 3138 BC to 135 AD. It was Chandragupta, the Gupta ruler who happened to be a contemporary of Alexander and Chandragupta Maurya belonged to a much earlier period. Adi Shankara belonged to the sixth century before Christ. The word ‘Aryans’ meant civilized people, but they are portrayed as invading barbarians.

Our Institute is offering on-line courses in support of these right findings. There are 18 volumes of authentic history created by Shripad Kulkarni and his team which consisted of Dr. Arun Joshi, A. G. Javadekar, Dr. M. D. Paradkar and Dr. V. V. Gangal. These eminent people have put in their best to create the knowledge system. In fact, the BHISHMA Award is given to eminent people who have contributed to Indic thought. It consists of a certificate, shawl, garland, and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs. Shri Balkrishna Acharya of Patanjali Yogapeeth, Rajeev Malhotra and David Frawley are the ones chosen thus far," stated Kshitij Patukale - The Founder Director of Bhishma. Shripad Kulkarni had worked hard and proved that Indian history began several thousand years before Christ. He was the first person to state that Adi Shankara was born 1300 years earlier than the European given date. The scholar had stated that western interests had erased large parts on India history. Paramacharya of Kanchi had stated that one successor of Adi Shankara had gone to Cambodia in the eight centuries after Christ and that this was being used to mislead people.

Prof. Kshitij Patukale , the Founder Director of Bhishma is supported by a team of eminent people - Dr. Govindgiri Maharaj (Treasurer - Ramjanmabhumi Teerth Kshetra), Dr. Rajiv Malhotra (Founder - Infinity Foundation), Padmabhushan Awardee Dr. Vijay Bhatkar (Chancellor - Nalanda University), Dr. Milind Sathe (Hindu Council of Australia) and Chief Patron Ravindra Kulkarni, the son of Shripad Kulkarni. Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni is an eminent mathematician and is the Chief Patron and supporter of BHISHMA from the very beginning. The idea had crystallized by 2010 but got started by 2019. More than 1200 students have thus far benefited through the on-line programmes and about 350 are going to join the forthcoming batch this year.

Prof Kshitij Patukale wants to help youngsters to improve their confidence levels. He wants Bhishma to share details about the glorious past based on the works of the elders. He feels that it is the time to reestablish our credentials. BHISHMA is enthused by the response and is in the process of slowly developing itself into a global on-line University offering Indic knowledge. Universities of various states are now requesting BHISHMA to help them to create a syllabus, curriculum for Indic subjects. They have also requested the organization to run courses. BHISHMA has one-month courses and is now moving towards three-month courses too.
